For Ministry

The Necessity

Researchers have found that over 70% of people will experience some form of trauma in their life.

Exposure to trauma can lead to mental health problems, physical health problems, spiritual struggles, addiction, and difficulties with living out one’s vocation.

What does this have to do with your ministry?

Whether you work or volunteer in one of the Church’s ministries, the odds are high that many of the people you work with have faced or will face trauma.

When we are informed about trauma and trauma-informed practices, we are in a better position to aid those we work with on their healing journey.

  • We can create ministries where those who have faced trauma feel safe and welcome.
  • We can have resources to refer people to if they disclose trauma to us.
  • We can intentionally promote factors that can help people heal and prevent the potential negative effects of trauma.
  • And by doing so, we can ultimately be ministers of Christ’s healing love to trauma survivors.
